Day 1: We make our way to Cheshire to the wonderful Crewe Hall Hotel, arriving in time for dinner.
Day 2: We begin our day in the pretty Spa town of Buxton which has attracted visitors for centuries to drink and bathe in its thermal mineral water. Nestled in the heart of the Peak District, with world famous Georgian and Victorian architecture, the town’s history is shaped by water. Perhaps visit the Buxton Crescent Experience; this boutique attraction reveals the story of this special spa town through nine interactive rooms inside the iconic Grade I listed Buxton Crescent. The town is also great for shopping with a varied mix of independent boutiques and well-known stores. We spend our afternoon exploring RHS Bridgewater. Bridgewater opened in May 2021 and is the Royal Horticultural Society’s fifth public display garden. Reviving the historic 156 acre gardens was the biggest project of its kind in Europe and highlights include the restoration of the Walled Kitchen Garden, The Paradise Garden, Moon Bridge Water and Ellesmere Lake.
Day 3: This morning we travel into the Peak District National Park to charming town of Bakewell. Idyllically situated on the banks of the River Wye with mellow stone buildings, quaint courtyards and a medieval five arch bridge, it’s not surprising Jane Austen based Pride and Prejudice’s fictional town of Lambton on this delightful town. There will of course be time to treat yourself to an original Bakewell Tart! In the afternoon we head to Chatsworth House & Gardens, home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire on the banks of the river Derwent. One of the greatest houses of the Elizabethan age the house showcases a unique collection of 16th and 17th century furniture, tapestries and embroideries, a magnificent painted hall, state rooms and galleries. The 105 acre gardens are magnificent in the summer months retaining many historical attributes alongside modern landscape design with sculptures and water features.
Day 4: After breakfast we make our way to Ness Botanic Gardens. Located on the Wirral peninsula, the award-winning gardens offer a mix of formal planting and wild meadows in a beautiful array of colour. With a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere, with views of the River Dee and North Wales, the 64-acre gardens are overflowing with horticultural treasures. This afternoon we head to the heart of Chester for an afternoon at leisure to explore the beauty and unique atmosphere of this historical city. A beguiling and elegant destination with each chapter of history etched into the very fabric of its walls. This ancient city with is home to the largest Roman Amphitheatre in Britain and a 1000-year-old Cathedral with Europe's finest example of medieval carvings. One of the most iconic and fascinating landmarks in Chester are The Rows, a unique architectural treasure that date back 700 years and now home to boutiques, independent shops and restaurants. These stunning two-tiered timber framed galleries create a shopping experience like no other.
Day 5: Today we say goodbye and begin our journey home.
