If you’re passionate about patchwork and quilting this is the perfect short break to enhance your skills with liked minded quilters and indulge in relaxing days of creativity.  Join us on a 3-night retreat run by the wonderful Cowslip Workshops at the delightful Esplanade Hotel in Newquay with its fantastic location and great leisure facilities.  Led by a passionate and enthusiastic expert there will be plenty of time during your stay to learn new techniques and lose yourself in the beautiful task of creating a quilt. Suitable for people with all levels of experience, the retreat will see guests using machine piercing with hand applique and will cover various techniques that will make each quilt individual. Perhaps use existing designs, keeping to the basic strip type of quilt, choose something more complex or maybe go freestyle and adapt designs as you choose. At the end of the day switch off with fellow quilters, enjoy delicious meals and time to unwind.

Itinerary

Day 1: We travel to our delightful Newquay hotel. There will be a meet and greet this afternoon from the dedicated tutor who will discuss skill levels and establish what you wish to achieve during the retreat.

Day 2: The day begins at 09:30 for a full day of quilting with the leader providing demos and helping with techniques. This evening is at leisure.

Day 3: Enjoy another full day of quilting with support and advice from the expert. Perhaps make use of the hotel’s leisure facilities this evening or enjoy spending time with fellow quilters. 

Day 4: After breakfast this morning we begin our journey home. 

NB: Guests will need to bring their own sewing machine, fabric and basic sewing supplies. Depending on the size and complicity of the quilt it may not be possible to complete during the retreat however the project can be continued at home. For beginners we recommend working on a strip quilt design. There will also be the option to Teapot quilt or, for more experienced quilters, work on your own design

Esplanade Hotel, Newquay

A picturesque and contemporary hotel overlooking the world famous Fistral Beach in Newquay, The Esplanade is a special place where you can sit back and relax - a stylish home from home. The hotel offers stunning views from inside and out, especially from the lounge where the dramatic seascapes spill in.
