Crosskeys Day Trips 

We begin our day with a delicious hearty two-course Lunch at the Waterside Inn before a picturesque two and a half hour cruise through the hidden Hertfordshire countryside to the historic town of Ware.

Boarding directly from the garden terrace at the Waterside Inn we will cruise up the River Lee passing through three locks including the rare swing bridge at Stanstead Lock; with the reputation of being one of the country’s most difficult locks to negotiate.

The scenic journey will pass the junction of the River Stort & River Lee, cruising past Stanstead Marina, Amwell Nature Reserve and onto Ware where you will see the riverside pubs with their unique historic gazebos overhanging the river.

With a fully licensed bar on board with a range of drinks to purchase it’s time to sit back and watch the world go by

  •  Hunter’s Chicken (GF without onion rings) Grilled chicken breast topped with streaky bacon, cheese and BBQ sauce served with chunky chips, onion rings, peas and a dressed salad.
  • Hand-Battered Fish & Chips Cooked until golden and crispy, served with tartare sauce and green peas.
  • Hand-Battered Halloumi & Chips (V) Cooked until golden and crispy, served with tartare sauce and green peas.
    Sausage & Mash (GF)
  • Award winning sausages served with buttery chive mashed potato, braised red cabbage, beef gravy and caramelised red onion chutney.
    Vegetarian sausage and mash option also available (V, GF)
  • Mushroom, Caramelised Onion &Truffle Ravioli (VG) With smoked chilli& tomato sauce laced with olives, spinach, roasted red onion and pepper

Dessert
  • Crumble of the Day (V, GF) Today’s flavour of classic crumble served with a jug of creamy custard. Vegan option available (VG) Chocolate Brownie (V, GF) With salted caramel sauce, Belgian chocolate sauce and Biscoff ice cream.
  • Signature Sticky Toffee Sponge (V) Served with salted caramel sauce and a jug of custard. (VG) when served just with dairy-free custard.
  • Vanilla ice cream (V, GF) or Vanilla non-dairy ice cream (V, VG, GF)
  • Simple ice cream on its own.
