4 Nights Half Board
Guided Town Walk
Boppard- Lorelley Cruise
Train journey on th Vulkan Express
Excursion to Cochem
Day 1: We travel to our hotel in Boppard arriving in time to freshen up before dinner.
Day 2: After breakfast we will be joined by the owner of the hotel who will take us on a guided walking tour of Boppard, a beautiful town on the edge of the river Rhine. You will have free time in the afternoon to enjoy Boppard; scenically located on a horseshoe bend in the river, Boppard (pronounced bo-part) is one of the Romantic Rhine’s prettiest towns.
After dinner we will enjoy an hour’s wine-tasting with local grower Thomas Perll, he will tell us all about the local wines of Boppard.
Day 3: This morning you can relax and enjoy a cruise on the Rhine from Boppard to Loreley. Shrouded in legend, the distinctive slate cliff towers 132 metres above the narrowest stretch of the river. The rock achieved world-wide renown through the legend of a beautiful but fateful maiden Loreley, who is said to have sat upon the rock, combing her golden hair and singing. Sailors passing by below in their boats were so bewitched by her song and her beauty that they forgot the dangerous currents and were wrecked on the rocks. Other wonderful sights Schönberg Castle & Pfalz Castle standing in midstream near Kaub.
This afternoon our excursion will take us to Cochem, a picturesque village in the most romantic part of the Moselle Valley. The town of Cochem itself is a sight worth seeing, not only because of its narrow streets and twisty alleys, the lovingly restored half-timbered houses with the typical slate roofs, the historical market-place, but also because of its medieval town gates, churches and walls. The wine-growers and restaurant owners would also like to take the time to introduce you to the variety of their excellent Riesling wines.
Day 4: Our excursion today will take us to Brohl where we will board the Vulcan Express for our journey to Englen. This unique narrow gauge, slow moving train (despite its name) will take us on a scenic journey past fairy-tale castles and close to the unique Laacher See, a lake formed by ancient volcanic activity.
After our train journey we will return to Boppard where you will have time at leisure.
Day 5: After breakfast we must sadly say goodbye and begin our journey homeward.
With an enviable location on the west bank of the Rhine, this 3 star hotel has welcomed groups to Boppard for many years.
