Tall Ships in Liverpool & Terracotta Warriors 24, May, 2018
A 30-strong fleet of international tall ships is to return to Liverpool to help the city celebrate the 10th anniversary of its year as European Capital of Culture.
For over 2,000 years, an underground army of life-sized terracotta warriors secretly guarded the tomb of China’s First Emperor, Qin Shi Huangdi, until a chance discovery in 1974 unlocked the mysteries of a vanished empire.
Day 1: Today we will make our way to our hotel arriving in time to freshen up before dinner.
Day 2: Today we travel to Liverpool and one of the highlights of the tour; Tall Ships Liverpool. The festival regularly attracts tall ships big and small from all over Europe and in 2018 will become host to the beginning of a quite spectacular event - The Three Cities Tall Ships Regatta. You may see it called the Mersey River Festival 2018, or you may see it called Tall Ships Liverpool 2018 - all we know is they're one and the same and you really can't afford to miss it!
Day 3: After breakfast we make our way to Rawtenstall where we step back in time for a nostalgic trip on a steam train along the East Lancashire Railway. Our journey will take us through the beautiful Lancashire countryside to the market town of Bury. After lunch we will continue on to the Fred Dibnah Heritage Centre. The museum tells the story of this well-known engineer, steeplejack and English eccentric.
Day 4: Today we return to Liverpool and the World Museum for a very special exhibition; Terracotta Warriors and China’s First Emperor. Showcasing objects from one of the world’s greatest archaeological discoveries, this unmissable exhibition spans almost 1,000 years of Chinese history. In the afternoon you will have free time to spend in the city or perhaps return to the Docks and the Tall Ships.
Day 5: This morning we leave our hotel and begin our journey home
