Llandudno 16, July, 2018

Llandudno is one of Britains finest seaside resorts. Its immaculate seafront, gracefully framed by two headlands with Snowdonia in the background make it a most elegant seaside resort. Its long crescent promenade, wide shopping streets, sweeping sands and wealth of attractions make it a perfect destination for a holiday.

Day 1 We travel to Llandudno arriving in plenty of time to relax before dinner.

Day 2 This morning we make the very short journey to the Great Orme Tramway for our ride up to The Great Orme Summit. The Tramway has been delighting visitors since it opened in 1902. An engineering marvel of its age, it’s still the only cable-hauled tramway still operating on British public roads. At the Halfway-Station exhibition, discover the fascinating funicular tramway – then enjoy the spectacular ride to the top. The Summit Complex stands prominently at the 679ft Summit of the Orme. From this striking position the complex offers you breath-taking views of Llandudno, areas of Snowdonia national park, the Isle of Anglesey and the Irish Sea.

Day 3 Today is a free day to enjoy this much loved seaside resort. The Victorians and Edwardians loved Llandudno – they called it the Queen of the Welsh Resorts and graced it with some of the most elegant seaside architecture in Britain.

Day 4 Our excursion today takes us to Plas Newydd House and Gardens, set on the shores of the Menai Strait amidst breathtakingly beautiful scenery. This elegant house was redesigned By James Watt in the 18th century. The 1930s restyled interior is famous for its Rex Whistler association and contains his exquisite romantic mural and the largest exhibition of his works. There’s a fine spring garden and Australasian arboretum, an Italianate-style summer terrace and a woodland walk. From the house and grounds the views across the Menai Strait to the mountains of Snowdonia are simply stunning.

Day 5 After breakfast we must say goodbye and begin our journey home.
