Magical German Christmas Markets 03, December, 2018

With so many Christmas Markets throughout the country the most difficult choice is which one to visit! With this festive break we have made that decision for you and put together an itinerary taking in three of the most enchanting Christmas Markets in Germany.

Day 1 We board our coach and begin our journey to Germany arriving in time to freshen up before dinner.

Day 2 Today is a free day to enjoy Trier. Amid the medieval surroundings of the Hauptmarkt square and in front of the mighty cathedral, 95 festively decorated wooden huts create an enchanting Christmas atmosphere in Germany’s oldest town. At the market you will find Christmas decorations, wooden toys, candles, the list goes on, along with culinary delicacies, hot tea or delicious glϋhwein.

Day 3 After breakfast we will make our way to Cochem, in the most romantic part of the Moselle Valley. Picture-postcard Cochem has a fantastic collection of half-timbered houses with typical slate roofs, a fairy-tale castle, narrow streets and twisty alleyways. The Cochem Christmas Market is just as beautiful as the town itself. Festively decorated wooden stalls sell all the gifts and crafts you could wish for. After a day of exploring we will make our way back to our hotel in time for dinner.

Day 4 Our excursion today will take us to Bernkastel, probably one of the prettiest towns on the Moselle and often referred to as “The Pearl of the Moselle”. The town is located on the very edge of the river tightly enclosed by some dramatic steep hillsides. At the heart of Bernkastel is the Marktplatz (market square), an almost unbelievably romantic composition of half-timbered, colour-washed houses with steep roofs and gable. Every yuletide season visitor’s flock to see this amazing medieval Christmas market. The narrow little streets with their quaint romantic houses make the perfect Christmas setting.

Day 5 Today we must sadly say goodbye to this beautiful part of Germany and begin our journey home.
